Happy 75th Birthday to Buddy Holly!
Charles Hardin Holley, born on the 7th of September, 1936 in Lubbock, Texas, USA. Was killed in a plane crash at such an early and young age of 22 in Clear Lake, Iowa on the 3rd of February, 1959.
He is without doubt one of the greatest figures in music, notable being impacting influence on The Beatles who got their name through inspiration of Holly’s band, The Crickets and whose first recording was The Crickets’ #1 hit, That’ll Be The Day. Famously also being the inspiration of Don McLean’s #1 hit, ‘American Pie’. His music still echoes through history, up to this day and without doubt the future, with hundreds if not thousands of impersonators, covered songs and drawn inspirations. No doubt however that his huge impact on the face of Rock ‘n’ Roll has engraved his name in gold.
Happy 75th Birthday, Buddy Holly!
